Enjoy
a refreshing change from inn or bed and breakfast accommodations
and the peace of privacy and no telephone. The spacious cottage
has lovely views from every window, a fully equipped kitchen with
refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, microwave, and other small appliances,
a full bath as well as laundry facilities for guests.
The
two bedrooms (one queen and one twin-bedded room), a futon in
the large living room and a dining space provide a perfect getaway
for singles, couples, a group of friends or a small family.
The
house sits on the edge of an active wetland pond and is nestled
amidst pastures, and an orchard abundant with apples, pears, plums,
and blackberries.
From
it youll watch the sun rise over Mount Baker and the North
Cascade Mountains and observe ships sailing through Rosario Strait.
The
Island Retreat combines privacy and self-sufficiency with easy
walking distances to beaches, and the rural artistic community
of Lummi Island. The Islander, the folksy general store just across
from the ferry dock, is the hub of the island community.
Youll
share the retreat with deer grazing in the orchards, heron and
redwing blackbirds nesting in the wetland. Eagles and owls are
a common sight.
For
the more active, walking in the Curry Reserve, kayaking in the
surrounding waters, hiking on Lummi Mountain or biking the 18
miles of quiet country roads provide access to other spectacular
views.
